Do you see how childish and narrow we become when we’re on the receiving end of injustice or when we’re dishing out something that really we shouldn’t be? In part it means integrity and virtue, purity of life but that’s still not all of it. John Wesley put it this way, he said: Those who are unfeignedly penitent, they are truly convinced of their sin. There are four lessons here about how God provides: 1. Not because they deserve it but because Jesus died to purchase that forgiveness for them. Can you see how childish that is? Because Almighty God does the blessing, we are blessed with all blessings. That’s what righteousness means and will you notice with me here please that when Jesus talks about righteousness He makes no distinction as to the situation? Grieving is grieving, it’s a process, there are different stages of grieving that are well understood by psychologists and counsellors. Plenty of people who live their lives that way so imagine my disdain and surprise then, back in those days before I knew Jesus personally, when I heard this little quote from something Jesus once said, what I now know to be the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew chapter 5, verse 5: Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth.
