1. The trail offers a number of activity options. Florida Trail: Alexander Springs to Juniper Springs is a 17.1 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Altoona, Florida that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. Alexander Springs has always been tops on my list of things to do in the Ocala National Forest. We start out the trip heading out from Juniper Springs. We met two men that were dropping off a car so they could hike the Florida Trail from Hopkin’s Prairie to Juniper Springs like we had done in the summer. It's one among many of Florida's crystalline springs, where locals and visitors gather to enjoy its many offerings of eco-adventure. Also, the end of this trip was also the same ending spot of the other three’s really cold backpacking trip last year. We were planning on doing about 6 miles to camp. Compared to nearby Alexander Springs and Salt Springs, two more that allow visitors to take a dip during sweltering summer days, visitors may not be going to Juniper Springs just for the swimming since it doesn’t have the deep crevices offered by many of the best springs in Florida.
